School Enterprise Challenge 2019
Ashoka Universal School, Arjun Nagar, Nashik is always in the pursuit of making education enjoyable and experiential. During the journey of the quest, Ashoka initiates such projects which give a jolt to the field of education. One such project taken up by the Ashoka group of schools is ‘the school enterprise challenge’, an international business programme for schools run by the educational charity ‘Teach a man to fish’ which teaches business and life skills to its students. Students of grade IX to XII, with the support of teachers and management of Ashoka, are involved in owning, operating and managing a business . Ashokaites ‘yummy tummy’ (canteen) is a student led business to develop the practical know-how of entrepreneurship among its students. It caters to the breakfast (i.e. healthy and hygienic) needs of the school on alternate days. From the purchase of the raw material, utensils and tools to the serving of the end product is done by the students. The project helps in teaching essential culinary skills, management skills and creates young entrepreneurs.
