Zero Shadow Day 2021
Aim & Objective :
1) Learn about simple trigonometry, the motion of Sun and Earth, the cause of seasons, and optics.
2) Understand the Experiment performed by Erasthothenes
3) Every place on the Earth that is located between the Tropics of Cancer and Capricorn will have two days in a year when the Sun will be directly overhead. For India, this day happens during ‘Uttarayan’, which occurs in the time period between April and September. On the Zero-Shadow Day (ZSD), at noon, a vertical pole will cast no shadow and will cast a longer and longer shadows as we move away from this day.
