WORLD DAY TO COMBAT DESERTIFICATION AND DROUGHT- 21-22
WON’T LET THE FUTURE DRY UP- VOW TAKEN BY YOUNG ASHOKITES ON THE ‘WORLD DAY TO COMBAT DESERTIFICATION AND DROUGHT’
Today, more than two billion hectares of previously productive land, which is essential to provide Food, (animal) Feed and Fibre, have been degraded worldwide. Yet, one-third of all food produced each year is lost or wasted, while close to one billion people are undernourished says the recent report published by The United Nations.
On 17th June, in an online session, students and educators of Ashoka Group of Schools, Off Gangapur Road Campus gathered together to raise awareness and celebrate the World Day to Combat Desertification and Drought. During the special assembly, students raised and acknowledged the importance of restoring the land and how we all can contribute towards it by bringing small changes in our daily lives. As per the global theme: Food, Feed & Fibre- they presented & discussed about a few sustainable solutions of land & water management and ways of sustainable production & consumption.
Students ardently also made posters, wrote slogans and presented poems to extend their support towards the social cause. At the end, all the young learners pledged to ‘Let the World Not Dry Up!’
