CURRICULUM

ASHOKA GLOBAL PRESCHOOL follows an indigenous Pre-primary curriculum based on the ideas, theories and practices prevalent internationally to develop the students’ cognitive and motor skills. Through each unit of inquiry, the students' curiosity and imagination is sparked by exposing them to a new world of discovery which provides the essential academic, social and physical skills that the child needs in the challenging world with a positive, safe, nurturing environment which enhances learning by establishing and maintaining a high level of academic and behavioral expectations. Our curriculum concerns itself with the overall development of the child. While encouraging positive individual characteristics, it promotes student responsibility, co-operation, creativity and respect for individuality and equality. AGPS students not only have high academic standards but high behavioral standards as well. The curriculum has been planned and organized in a systematic and scientific manner, keeping in view the prevalent trends and requirements in the field of education. The curriculum aims to provide a holistic and broad-based education, taking into ambit all aspects of child behavior, so as to equip them to meet the challenges in life and to develop their potential for Lifelong learning.

Our philosophy is that education should promote thinking and creativity, rather than rote learning. We believe that the young generation will do wonders if education let them explore their mind instead of relying on memory. Our learning is inquiry-based which emphasis on play-way methods, nurturing the curiosity and creativity of students encouraging them to take intellectual risks and developing critical and independent thinking.

The school curriculum features the Interactive worksheets system for effective implementation of international & national curricula. It focuses on the total growth of developing child, touching hearts as well as minds and encompassing social, physical, emotional and cultural needs in addition to academic development.

Ashoka Concept Note (E-Booklet)

The Ashoka Approach:

At Ashoka, we follow the Eclectic approach to learning, i.e. an amalgamation of the best practices and pedagogies of Early Childhood & Care. As 21st century educators, we believe this approach allows us to reach out to every child and nurture the learning process in a manner that is personal and therefore, effective.

The Eclectic approach, as defined by leading Early Learning Years experts, is very relevant and appropriate for the preschoolers as it presents an opportunity to develop all the essential life skills "by learning in a creative and stimulating environment and gaining the confidence to fulfill their potentials as learners."

Our curriculum, especially designed and planned by experts is an integration of the following:

Play Way Method
•     Well known and time-tested as the most ideal teaching technique by leading national and international philosophers like Maria Montessori, Frobel, Steiner, Italian (Reggio), European (IBO) and Finnish educators, this method enables teachers to use tools, resources defined as “manipulatives” or “play material” to have children explore and question, building on their curiosity.

Multiple Intelligences
•    Another popular approach to teaching, the ability of a teacher to identify a child’s innate learning pattern like visual, auditory, kinaesthetic etc so that the classroom can help EVERY child learn through a customisation of techniques and tasks which make it personal or DIFFERENTIATED. This has proven time and time again to be the backbone of any progressive learning outcomes that children have in their foundational years

21st Century Skills
•     All top educational universities have attributed the importance of incorporating 4c’s in every day lesson plans for children, the curriculum will feature exposure to:

  •    Critical Thinking
  •    Collaboration
  •    Communication
  •    Creativity

Reggio Emilia inspired approach
•     The Italian Reggio Emilio inspired approach empowers teachers to focus on child-centric learning that is self-guided and directed and beautifully uses all elements including the physical indoor and outdoor spaces to create meaningful self-learning opportunities that work on all areas of development especially core 21st century skills

The Ashoka USP:
